Here’s a list of some of my favorite dog-related things.
Chews
- Gorilla wood chews
- Yak chews
- Bully sticks
- Better bone
- Cardboard boxes are also a lot of fun for dogs to destroy, especially puppies and adolescent dogs.
Mental Enrichment
- Food puzzles – I like to use canned pumpkin, plain Greek yogurt, store-brand peanut butter as the filling for some of the below items. Always check the ingredient list for xylitol, which is toxic to dogs. If you’re unsure whether an ingredient is safe or appropriate for your dog, ask your vet.
- Classic Kong
- Kong Wobbler for dispensing kibble
- Maze bowls
- Westpaw Toppl, Qwizl
- Snuffle mat
- Lickimat – great for occupying dogs during grooming/baths
- Sniffing games

Treats
- Red Barn Beef Roll
- Happy Howie’s
- I like to use people food like boiled chicken breast, low-fat string cheese, and precooked frozen meatballs for higher value treats, perfect for dogs who are a little picky, and for those who need a higher level of reinforcement when working outside.
Treat pouch
- Hardware store aprons are an inexpensive option (usually less than $1), as well as regular fanny packs.
Toys
- Long braided fleece tug toy, ideally 2-3ft long
- Tough tug toy
- Flirt pole for dogs who like to chase and tug
- Snuggle Puppy for alone time
Walking Equipment
- Fabric martingale
- Harnesses
- PetSafe 3 in 1
- Freedom harness
