If you’ve worked with me, you know how much I love SniffSpot as a form of enrichment and exercise for my client dogs (and my own!).
Dogs must have an outlet where they can stretch their legs and explore – something a bit more intensive than a regular leash walk – and SniffSpot removes the guesswork of whether you’ll be approached by an offleash dog or not. If you have a reactive dog who barks and lunges at others, walking in places where it is highly unlikely to see other dogs or humans is a critical part of your behavior modification plan.
Here are a few of my favorite SniffSpots in Maryland:
Dragonfly Hollow
Located in Glen Arm in Baltimore County, Maryland, this spot is huge and quiet – 8 acres complete with a big pond and dock for swimming. You will not see or hear other dogs, though you may hear gunfire a few miles away.
Zen Paw Ranch
Three acres are fenced (4ft split rail with mesh), with covered areas for sitting if it gets too sunny or rainy. This spot in Owings Mills, Maryland is clean and quiet.
Canine Lifestyle Farm
Three acres fenced in with agility equipment and a spot to sit in the shade. No other dogs will be visible, though you may occasionally hear some barking.
Summertime Fun in Odenton
This space in Odenton, Maryland has a privacy fence surrounding an in-ground pool on .25 acre. Perfect spot to beat the heat!
Madra Training Field
2 acres securely fenced in Boyds, Maryland, with a covered area for sitting. Sheep available for herding practice for an extra fee.
Piece of Quiet Farm
30 acres plus a half-acre pond for swimming located at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain. You may see other dogs there but can reach out to the host in advance to prevent that if need be.
